In August and September of 2023, both my husband, Al, and I had significant health issues. I was in the ICU in September for a condition that was diagnosed as Aldosteronism in November. Al was receiving radiation for cancer that had come back. Al will be getting chemotherapy for the next three years. This was a stressful time for us. We were worried about each other and, of course, for ourselves. My recovery was very slow. Al is still in the process of treatment.
When your body is weak, it is difficult to be positive, maintain supportive emotions, and stay in high spirits. I was weak - body, mind, and spirit. I didn’t recognize myself. I realized that I needed to do something to get back to myself before the diagnosis and return of cancer happened. I would do my morning meditations, reflections, and confessions meant to lift my mood and spirit. But honestly, something was still missing. So, in November, I started researching natural things I could do myself to help with my well-being. That’s when I discovered herbs for tea. My first tea was a Relax blend that helped support my nervous system, relieve stress, and reduce anxiety. I then developed a blend to help us sleep. Next, when the radiation was causing digestive issues for Al, I developed a blend that supports digestive health by relieving bloating and relaxing the digestive system. I also infused honey to complement the flavors and purpose of the teas.
These worked so well for us that I decided to blend teas and infused honey as Christmas presents for family and friends. At Christmas, I gave a Morning blend, Relax, Sleep, and a chocolate blend, I call Bliss. I infused honey with lavender, rose, ginger-lemon, and chocolate. I labeled each blend and infusion with a meditation/reflection that I found supported the intention of the tea and helpful for the mind and spirit. As family and friends do, they accepted the gift with gratitude. After drinking the teas, they admitted that they were skeptical about whether the teas would do what I said they were going to do. The teas worked for them. They’ve also appreciated the reminder to reflect and practice gratitude. Since then, I have been asked for refills and to blend teas for mental focus, creativity, brain fog, appetite suppression, respiratory issues (allergies, colds, COVID cough, and bronchitis), anti-inflammation, memory, and libido. Some of these blends are currently available, others I am still formulating for both effectiveness and taste.
I appreciate and am grateful for everything that medicine does. And I know that it's not necessarily about supporting the whole person - body, mind, and spirit. I also understand that our bodies, minds, and spirits need to be supported in ways that traditional systems aren’t designed to do. This is why I created Regina’s purposed teas.
With Gratitude,
Regina
